[Exclusive] Vivo to launch new Y-series smartphone with segment’s slimmest curved display in India

Key Highlights:

  • Vivo’s upcoming Y-series smartphone could boast the slimmest design in its segment.

  • It’s expected to debut in three striking colours: Freestyle White, Festive Gold, and Nebula Purple.

  • The official name of the smartphone is yet to be confirmed.

Vivo Y Series

Vivo’s Y-series has earned a reputation for delivering stylish smartphones with standout features in the budget and mid-range segment — whether it’s the display, battery life, or camera setup. Now, 91mobiles has learned through exclusive industry sources that Vivo is gearing up to launch a new addition to this lineup, featuring what could be the slimmest curved AMOLED display in its category.

What to Expect from the New Y-Series Device

The upcoming Y-series smartphone — still unnamed — is likely to feature a 3D curved AMOLED display, a first in its segment. It’s tipped to have an ultra-slim 7.49mm profile, encased within a sleek one-piece frame.

Colour options are set to include:

  • Freestyle White – each unit will sport a unique rear pattern, making every device one-of-a-kind

  • Festive Gold

  • Nebula Purple

How It Compares to Existing Curved Display Models in the Y-Series

  1. Vivo Y300 Plus 5G (Launched October 2024)

    • 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display

    • Snapdragon 695 chipset

    • 50MP main + 32MP selfie camera

    • Starting price: ₹23,999

  2. Vivo Y200 Pro 5G (Launched May 2024)

    • Similar display and chipset as Y300 Plus

    • 64MP OIS main camera + 16MP front camera

    • Price: ₹24,999

The new Y-series smartphone could enter the market at a more affordable price point. Industry chatter suggests it will feature the segment’s first 3D AMOLED display, potentially placing it below the ₹15,000 range. This would make it a direct competitor to models like the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ (₹15,999), which currently offers a curved AMOLED panel at a budget-friendly price.
