Samsung One UI 8 Beta Coming to Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6 & Flip 6

Key Highlights

  • Samsung’s 2024 flagship lineup is expected to receive the One UI 8 beta by the end of June.

  • Surprisingly, even 2022’s flagship devices might gain early access to the update.

  • One UI 8 introduces major improvements to multitasking, the Now Bar, and the Weather app.

Samsung appears to be accelerating development on its next major software update — One UI 8, based on Android 16. Following the confirmation of One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25 series in India, a new leak suggests the update could soon arrive for several other flagship and foldable devices.

According to a leak by X user @Tonysamsunglove, the One UI 8 beta rollout could kick off this month for multiple high-end Samsung smartphones — including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24+, S24, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

Expected Beta Rollout Timeline

Tech insider @Tarunvats spotted One UI 8 builds for the Galaxy S24 series on Samsung’s servers, indicating an imminent release. The build version noted was S928BXXU4CYF7/S928BOXM4CYF7.

Here’s how the rollout may unfold:

  • Late June: One UI 8 beta could arrive for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6.

  • End of June: Devices such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23+, S23, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 may receive the beta.

  • Early July (earlier than expected): The Galaxy S22 series, Fold 4, and Z Flip 4 could become eligible.

Interestingly, Tony also hinted at the development of One UI 8.5, which could include additional enhancements and is described as potentially “important” and “great.”

Meanwhile, since the Galaxy S25 series has already received the One UI 8 beta in select countries, users can expect follow-up beta updates in the coming days.

What’s New in One UI 8?

Samsung is bringing several upgrades with One UI 8, designed to enhance both aesthetics and usability. Some of the standout features include:

  • Dynamic Live Wallpapers: Wallpapers that adjust their gradient tone based on the time of day.

  • Expanded Now Bar Support: Thanks to Android 16’s Live Update API, more apps — like Uber Eats — can show live updates on the lockscreen.

  • Improved Split Screen Mode: Users can now dynamically resize and switch focus between apps with greater flexibility.

  • Redesigned Weather App: Cleaner layout, improved visuals, and more intuitive navigation.

  • Updated Reminder App: Organized into sections with new voice note support for added convenience.

  • Smarter Screenshot Management: Auto-categorization in the Gallery app into types like boarding passes, coupons, shopping lists, and more.

  • Galaxy AI Integration: Offers smart screen and camera recognition for contextual assistance.

How to Get the Beta

Once released, users can enroll in the One UI 8 beta programme via the Samsung Members app to receive the update directly on their devices.
