Samsung’s highly anticipated tri-fold phone, rumored to be called the Galaxy G Fold, has made a quiet appearance in a recent One UI 8 build, just days ahead of its expected launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9th, 2025. Discovered by Android Authority, this leak offers a clearer look at Samsung’s next-gen foldable design.
Key Design Details
-
Folding Mechanism:
The device folds twice, not thrice—first, the blank left panel folds inward, followed by the right section folding over it. This configuration suggests Samsung may brand it as “Multifold” instead of “tri-fold.” -
Display & Hinges:
With two hinges and three segments, the device offers a larger internal screen than the Galaxy Z Fold series. The design seems inspired by Samsung’s prototype, the Flex G.

Camera Setup:
-
One punch-hole camera is positioned on the middle screen.
-
The rear features four cameras, including a triple camera island on the left and the middle segment’s punch-hole.
-
Samsung appears to have dropped the under-display camera for this model.
-
-
Outer Panel:
The front-left section is a blank panel (not a display). The right section folds over it when closing the device. -
Hinge Design:
The hinges vary in size, likely to improve durability and ensure a smoother folding experience.
What Else We Know (So Far)
-
Display Size: ~9.96 inches when unfolded
-
Folded Height: ~6.54 inches
-
Weight: Approx. 298 grams
-
Thickness: Thicker than Galaxy Z Fold 6/7 due to the dual-hinge setup
Multifold vs. Flex S Concept
Samsung also has another concept called the Flex S, which uses a different folding pattern—one screen folds outward, the other inward, creating an S-shaped profile. Unlike that, the Galaxy G Fold appears to stick to a more compact inward-folding style.
Interestingly, animation files found in the One UI 8 build are labeled “Multifold 7”, hinting that this could be either a codename or a potential product name.
