Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold Unveiled: Ultra-Slim Tri-Fold Concept with Dual Display and 5,000mAh Battery

Key Highlights:

  • Measures just 11.49mm when folded and an ultra-slim 3.49mm when fully unfolded

  • Features a 9.94-inch primary display and dual-screen design

  • Equipped with a triple camera setup and a 5,000mAh battery

Tecno has introduced its latest innovation in foldable smartphones—the Phantom Ultimate G Fold, a next-generation tri-fold concept phone that pushes the boundaries of design and engineering. Succeeding the Phantom Ultimate 2 Tri-Fold from August 2024, this new concept elevates foldable technology with a unique inward-folding tri-panel structure.

Dual Displays for Enhanced Usability

What sets the Phantom Ultimate G Fold apart is its dedicated cover screen, making it the first tri-fold smartphone to offer dual displays. This design protects the flexible inner screen and improves durability—something rival devices like the Huawei Mate XT, which features only a single screen, haven’t achieved.

Display & Build

The handset boasts a 9.94-inch main display, just slightly smaller than Huawei’s 10.2-inch 3K screen, but it trumps the competition in terms of slimness:

  • Folded thickness: 11.49mm

  • Unfolded thickness: 3.49mm

Tecno claims this makes it the thinnest tri-fold concept device to date. It also features a durable construction with:

  • 2000 MPa ultra-high-strength steel for the hinge

  • Ultra-strong Titan Fiber back cover, only 0.3mm thick

Engineering Marvel: Dual-Hinge System

Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold

At the heart of the Phantom Ultimate G Fold is a custom-engineered dual-hinge system, combining:

  • A small waterdrop hinge that enables gapless inward folding (book-style)

  • A larger primary hinge that folds the final segment over the top

This design includes a self-locking mechanism to secure the device when closed, along with a custom dual-cam design in the main hinge that allows multi-angle hovering—ideal for hands-free use in a partially folded mode.

Performance and Battery

The concept device packs a triple rear camera setup and a 5,000mAh battery, balancing high-end features with futuristic design.

Availability and Outlook

The Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold will be showcased at MWC 2026, but as a concept, it’s not confirmed for commercial release yet. However, Tecno’s track record suggests it could eventually hit the market at a more competitive price than rivals like Huawei and Samsung.

For comparison:

  • Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 launched at Rs 89,990

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 recently debuted at Rs 1,74,999 in India

  • Samsung’s tri-fold, possibly named Galaxy Z Trifold, is also expected to launch later this year

While the tri-fold smartphone category is still in its early stages, innovations like the Phantom Ultimate G Fold suggest an exciting future—provided durability and practicality can match the design.
